Internationaal Herman Bavinck Centennial Congres

Graag nodigt The Neo-Calvinism Research Institute aan de Theologische Universiteit Kampen u uit voor de internationale Herman Bavinck Centennial Congress, op donderdag 11 en vrijdag 12 november 2021, in de Nieuwe Kerk, Broederweg 34, Kampen.
Honderd jaar na zijn overlijden lijkt de theologie van Herman Bavinck (1854-1921) in verschillende delen van de wereld bekender en meer gewaardeerd dan ooit. Gedurende de twintigste eeuw was Bavinck relatief onbekend buiten Nederland, en stond hij hier en elders in schaduw van de verwante, maar fameuzer theoloog en politicus Abraham Kuyper. In de laatste decennia is die situatie echter ingrijpend gewijzigd. Sinds zijn bekendste werken vanaf de eeuwwisseling vertaald werden in het Engels, en daarna in andere talen, nam de studie van zijn theologie en ook van zijn biografie exponentieel toe. Zijn opvattingen worden nu in uiteenlopende culturele en kerkelijk-theologische contexten toegepast en verwerkt.
Op dit congres zal aan diverse zijden van Bavincks leven en werk aandacht worden besteed: zijn theologie, maar ook zijn politieke en artistieke opvattingen en de toepasbaarheid en reikwijdte van zijn opvattingen hier en elders. Het programma van het congres treft u hierna aan.
