BEST-conferentie ‘The Nature and Logic of God’s Love’, 10-11 juni 2021 (online)

Alle christenen stemmen in met Bijbelse uitspraken als ‘God is liefde’ (1 Joh. 4,18) en ‘heb uw naaste lief als uzelf’ (Matt. 22,39). Maar wat bedoelt de Bijbel eigenlijk met liefde? Hoe kan de verhouding tussen God en zijn volk ‘liefdevol’ genoemd worden als er een groot verschil tussen God en mens is? Hoe verhoudt Gods liefde zich met zijn soms vernietigende oordeel of zijn voorkeur voor een volk of persoon (verkiezing)? Deze en andere vragen zullen het onderwerp zijn van de academische conferentie ‘The Nature and Logic of God’s Love’, georganiseerd door de onderzoeksgroep BEST (Biblical Exegesis and Systematic Theology) van de Theologische Universiteiten van Apeldoorn en Kampen.
Drie hoofdsprekers zullen vanuit hun eigen onderzoek hun visie geven op het thema. De hoofdsprekers zijn oudtestamenticus Eric Peels (Theologische Universiteit Apeldoorn), nieuwtestamenticus Ruben Zimmermann (Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz) en systematisch theoloog Paul Nimmo (University of Aberdeen). Short-papers van BEST-onderzoekers en andere academici verkennen onderwerpen als ‘de logica van Gods liefde in de theologie van Jesaja’, ‘liefde en lijden in Filippenzen’, ‘uitverkiezing en liefde’ en ‘liefde en het zelf’.
De conferentie zal plaatsvinden op 10 en 11 juni 2021 in een online setting, vanwege het coronavirus. De voertaal van de conferentie is Engels. De kosten voor de conferentie zijn €25,- voor de gehele conferentie en €15,- voor een dag. Inschrijven is mogelijk door een mail te sturen naar registration@tua.nl voor 29 mei 2021.
